When you're in love

                                                                                                          For Rumi

You died seven hundred years ago, in konya Turkey , they say.
You were buried 700 years ago, they say.
But why are you still very close to my heart?
Why do you still come to my abode
Every evening in the silence of the moon
And sing your sublime songs
all night long until silence departs again?

When you are in lov...e
The distance between here and Konya disappears.
and you start learning the language of your heart
And your heart becomes your beloved.

When you’re in love
You're the mirror as well as
the face in it. Hav't you said that already?
You’re here as well as everywhere,
in the smiles of the moon
as well as in the sorrow
of falling leaves.
In Minnesota as well as in Konya
Distance and borders, time and space dissolve
When you are in love.
