your not knowing

It has been raining
all day today here in Minneapolis -
Do you know how much rain
we are going to get?
a person I know asked me
in the parking lot –
I don’t know, I said.
the mind is occupied
with calculations
trying to grasp what
is ungraspable -
jumping from one tree
to another and holding
onto a fruit that is falling
to dissolve into a sweet earth -
Be comfortable
with your not knowing -
rest in the depth of
your being -
there is a light there

shining brighter than ten
thousand suns.
