For Hannah
Dear friend, do me a favor today, this morning, right now: Pour the content of your head into this empty space,
Until you are completely empty yourself, empty, empty. Until you are completely free.
I know like anybody else, you too are afraid of many things among other things losing your job or your relatiopships.
Are you also afraid of emptiness? The emptiness I am talking about is this: Take a room clattered with useless furniture
And shelves crammed with old files and photo albums where dust glorifies history and the goodness of bygone days,
A closet full of garments you will never need again, including the toys you loved as a child. You open it at least once a day or twice to smell the perfume that carries ancient memories.
Now have a little courage to take all these away and throw them into a garbage bin. Throw them away completely and ruthlessly, without leaving a trace. Now wash the room with a flood of light. Make some room for new growth. Make room for yourself and your new guests. Apply the same to the content in your head and see how it feels. I assure you. You will love this emptiness. It really feels good. Freedom from clatters feels good because you are forged out of this emptiness, out of this pure essence.
